What to Expect from Therapy?

To talk openly and honestly about your issues, without judgment.

To feel heard and understood.

To add to your knowledge through reading and ‘homework’.

To be able to ask any questions you want to ask.

To feel support of your journey towards a happier and more satisfying life.

HOW DO I KNOW MY THERAPIST IS QUALIFIED?

As sex therapy is a newer profession many countries do not have legal requirements for a sex therapist to meet. Unfortunately this means many individuals practice as therapists without adequate qualifications.

Some things to ask of your therapist are;

-Do they have medical knowledge or background?

-Do they have counselling skills?

-Do they have post graduate training specific to therapy?

-Do they have expertise in relationship counselling?

Please Note: Even qualified sex therapists will have different approaches, knowledge and skill sets. One is not better or worse than another. It is important to find a sex therapist that has an approach that works for you.

Please get in touch if you would like any further information.
