Catalina Pérez

Kia Ora,

My name is Catalina, and I am a counselling intern in my final year of Auckland University of Technology's Bachelor of Health Science with a Major in Counselling.

I focus on offering people a safe space for curious exploration, leaving judgment for each other and ourselves out the door. I believe in walking alongside others with empathy and bringing my true self into the space to engage from an authentic place.
I have a passion for exploring relationship dynamics in all shapes and forms and draw from different approaches such as Transactional Analysis and relational therapy, as well as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and person-centred. Additionally, I enjoy engaging in Socratic questioning to let our philosophical curiosity explore new ways of healing.

On the other hand, I believe culture and society play a significant role in our lives, so I will pay attention to incorporating them into the therapeutic space. This makes it a great opportunity for anyone who is not from Aotearoa New Zealand originally, or wants to further incorporate culture into their lives as a way to connect with their identity.

I have experience working with youth, which has provided me with a wealth of knowledge in supporting individuals suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, and other day-to-day struggles.
I am excited to meet you and your significant others on this journey.
